Reflections on Fintech’s Promise to Improve People’s Financial Lives and Perspectives on its Future

Maria Lajewski Financial Health Network

Fintech has long been touted as a catalyst for impact. Yet despite technological advances including mobile banking, machine learning, and more recently AI, more than two-thirds of Americans remain financially unhealthy and more than half still live paycheck to paycheck. Has fintech merely scratched the surface or is it poised for transformative change?

Drawing from over 20 years of experience in fintech investing and impact measurement, our panel of experts will provide valuable insights into the successes and shortcomings of the fintech landscape.

This background will set the stage for a critical examination of impact investing through the lens of fintech, including explorations of:
– The role of impact investing in fostering meaningful change, including a new initiative leveraging CRA capital to support place-based innovation
– Lessons learned in how to gauge the potential impact of early-stage investments when data is sparse
– Frameworks for how we can evaluate and measure the impact of solutions, including the importance of hearing from customers directly

Lastly, the panel will share their thoughts on the future of fintech and where the field of impact investing and measurement will lead us.

Moderated by Financial Health Network, this panel will bring together a thought-provoking conversation featuring key voices from the Flourish Ventures, Resilience VC and 60 Decibels.
