Description

In impact investing and social entrepreneurship, lawyers are often seen as obstacles that slow deals down and add cost and complexity. But legal teams bring knowledge capital, creativity, and commitment to impact. This session reframes what lawyers can be and makes the case that in a sector that runs on trust, recognizing and celebrating these contributions helps advance the field.

For 9 years the Grunin Prize for Law and Social Entrepreneurship at NYU Law has recognized innovative impact transactions. We’ll hear from recipients about how this recognition enabled replication and scale.

What other ways might the field recognize and spread legal innovation? How has exposure to this work shifted your view of the role of lawyers?
