Description

Black, Indigenous and other communities of color have a long history of entrepreneurship, often persisting in spite of systemic exclusion from traditional capital frameworks. Mainstream examples of entrepreneurship may seem like individual success stories. However, taken collectively, these stories represent a long legacy of building economic security as protection against economic and material violence. How can we advance narratives about Black and Indigenous entrepreneurship that recognize its role in providing protection and advancing community good? And can we use those narratives to unlock additional funding and support?
