Who Decides Where Impact Capital Goes?

Impact investors have access to billions. Communities in Chicago have been waiting for capital for decades. The gap between those two facts is a knowledge problem. Before this session, we asked a Chicago neighborhood one question: “If you had $100,000 to invest in your neighborhood, what would you spend it on?” We took the top eight answers, specific and unfiltered. Attendees then allocate that same $100,000 across those eight categories, mirroring how they actually deployed impact capital last year. Plus a ninth option: no capital allocated. We display what the room chose. Then we reveal what the community said. Whatever the gap is, that’s the conversation.
