SOCAP11 Panelist Spotlight: Mariana Amatullo, Art Center College of Design

SOCAP August 27, 2011

What is your role in the Social Capital Market?
I am panelist with great collaborators and colleagues with the Innovation Unit of UNICEF, the US Fund For UNICEF and Frog.
What opportunity is there for a technology solution to help aggregate information around social enterprise for both investors and entrepreneurs?
The ability of technology to break down barriers and amplify social innovation especially at the intersection of international development and design is so exciting.  For entrepreneurs, the platforms we have today with social media are an instant megaphone and multifaceted tool.  Today it is affordable and easy to share your story and reach many.
What does Money + Meaning = to you? What should the social capital market stand for?
I think about this idea of “shared value” a lot these days through the work I lead with Designmatters at Art Center College of Design.   Money and meaning translates to impact and purpose and the means to sustain that impact and the social value organizations and institutions like mine are so dedicated to.
