Episode Two: Bring a Friend, Add a Zero — LIVE AT SOCAP 365 in Philadelphia
Philadelphia has been called one of the top cities in the United States for social enterprise ecosystems and has been pointed to as a model for how to incubate a locally-driven economic resurgence nationwide. It is one city that recognizes that confronting the challenges of the 21st Century (including climate change and growing economic inequality) will require strategic, collaborative investment from all sectors.
In episode two of Money + Meaning, a panel of experts, each representing a different form of capital, discusses Philadelphia as an example of a city that is bringing together a spectrum of investors with local government allies, entrepreneurs, and community members to tackle systemic problems that their cities face. They point to a set of opportunities to build the field of impact investing in Philadelphia and across the US.
Recorded live at a SOCAP 365 event in Philadelphia in April of this year, this panel conversation, Building a Successful Investor Ecosystem for 21st Century Philadelphia, was presented in partnership with ImpactPHL, an organization that works with innovators and partners to organize, educate, and catalyze the social impact sector – businesses and investors that aim to advance public interests while pursuing financial returns. Their mission is to increase investment in impact companies and organizations in Greater Philadelphia by accelerating development and awareness of Greater Philadelphia’s impact economy.
