Description

In far too many communities, policing is used as the dominant method for maintaining safety and enforcing the law. Systemic bias and historical inequities embedded across American and global societal institutions means that many of these same communities never experience safety, justice, and prosperity. This session reimagines what is possible – particularly for historically marginalized populations – and equips participants with an innovative approach to developing community safety plans. By elevating early insights and proven approaches from Louisville Urban League’s work with support from Catalyst:Ed’s network of trusted, values-aligned consultants, we aim to center intentional community conversations and resulting actions so that solutions that expand opportunity are created for and by the very individuals who call a place home.
