Description

Nature-based carbon solutions offer a critical opportunity to reduce carbon in our environment while simultaneously restoring biodiversity around the globe. Unfortunately, we’re running out of land on which to meet many of the world’s climate pledges. Seaforestation, kelp restoration, offers a chance to restore ocean biodiversity while capturing carbon at scale.

This panel of experts will speak about Indigenous-led restoration efforts for climate, biodiversity and sustainable livelihoods and the potential economic and environmental opportunities of establishing kelp along the Pacific Coast (specifically Chile, the United States and Canada). This win-win solution stands to bring back severely degraded underwater forests, create new jobs in coastal communities and capture carbon.
