Description
The blue economy, valued at $2.5 trillion annually, sits at the intersection of climate investment, food systems, and ocean livelihoods. Investing in this space is complex and necessary. In sectors like fisheries, assets are tied to natural systems, policy, and climate volatility.
This session will briefly introduce the blue economy, with a focus on fisheries, then examine how capital is structured. We will explore forms of capital that support community-centered ownership across coastal communities in the U.S. and globally.
The conversation will focus on structuring deals that align incentives across stakeholders and highlight cooperative and shared ownership as pathways to more resilient ocean systems.
